Capital City Skating Club
Awards and Recognition Policy
Skaters in the Capital City Skating Club (CCSC) are eligible for a number of awards recognizing skating accomplishments as well as the desire and initiative to succeed and advance in skating and in their communities.
All registered skaters with the Capital City Skating Club as their home club are eligible for awards based on their Skate Canada levels passed and age requirements as of March 1 of the award year. Individual awards may have addition eligibility requirements.
All CCSC Award winners embody the “Spirit of Skating” – Commitment, perseverance, dedication,
passion and triumph.
Awards and Recognition Committee
An Awards and Recognition Committee will be assigned annually; they will make final decisions on all
awards and CCSC nomination of awards to other organizations for the season on behalf of CCSC with the
exception of the Skaters’ Choice Award. Eligibility for each award is a requirement; criteria for
consideration are guidelines only. The Committee will consist of a minimum of 3 members and will consist of at minimum (2) Club Directors and an Adult Skater. Additional members may be included from the parent and skater community.
Each CCSC Coach will nominate two to three skaters for each award, with the exception of the Skaters’ Choice Award or any award category in which the CCSC Coach is an eligible recipient, using the form in Annex A from which the Awards and Recognition Committee will choose a recipient or CCSC nominee.
The Program Assistant (PA) Chair will also nominate one skater for any PA awards. The Synchronized Skating Team managers will nominate one skater for any Synchronized Skater awards. Additional community involvement information on each nominee will be requested from parents as per the form in Annex B.
The Awards and Recognition Committee will then meet to assess the nominees using the criteria outlined in this policy and/or the guidelines provided for each award from other groups, such as Skate Canada and Region 3.
